Product benefits

Expand your experimental versatility

Utilise your existing PatchStar for both in vivo and in vitro experiments, broadening your range of experimental possibilities cost-effectively.

Choose the multielectrode probes that you want

The design lets you attach your chosen probe easily to its stable, straightforward clamping mechanism, streamlining your setup and providing the flexibility to meet your specific research needs (Min. rod diameter: 2.15 mm, Max. rod diameter: 4 mm)

Explore entire brain regions

The versatile system enables you to set your penetration (approach) angle anywhere between vertical and horizontal, giving you total freedom no matter what brain region you are trying to explore.

Multielectrode and sample protection with secure positioning

The in vivo package is designed with a unique double-locking feature for secure positioning, offering robust protection for your multielectrode and samples against unintended disturbances.

Designed for multielectrode probe positioning

Equipped with a compact and cleverly shaped clamping bracket, connected to the positioning manipulator through a long yet sturdy mounting arm, ensures exceptional stability, with the manipulator body securely positioned at a distance from the sample, providing ample workspace. (Various arm options are also available).

Reliably record from your exact area of interest, every time

Through software you can confidently visualise the probe’s coordinates, meaning you can accurately position your electrode at your precise area of interest, ensuring reliable recording every time.

Flip in, flip out electrode mount

With a simple movement, effortlessly position electrodes in and out of the experiment. This ergonomic feature enhances user comfort and helps prevent accidental electrode damage during handling.

Testimonials

"The PatchStar with the In Vivo Adaptor (InVivoStar) significantly improved the stability and reproducibility of our experiments. It also increased the precision of positioning electrical and optical stimulation electrodes during in vivo recordings. The system fits perfectly in the small space left for electrode placement over the setup."

Dr Lisa Mapelli
University of Pavia

"The In Vivo Adaptor with the PatchStar (InVivoStar) has been critical in our electrophysiology experiments. We are using it extensively for simultaneous recordings - its low profile allows us to record in structures that are close together. Altogether, we have managed to fit 4 manipulators on our rig to hold probes for recordings and fibers for optogenetics. With approach mode, we can optimally target deep structures and have now achieved dozens of stable single unit recordings with Neuropixel probes."
