Job description

The Del Rio Lab at the University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral trainee interested in pursuing an independent career in integrated physiology. Prospective candidates will be trained and participate in state-of-the-art physiological experiments in freely moving animals, including in-vivo optogenetics and chemogenetics manipulation, in-vivo and in-vitro electrophysiology, brain-targeted microinjection for gene and drugs delivery, confocal microscopy imaging and molecular biology of signaling pathways.

The candidate

Expectations include patch-clamp recordings from adult rodent slice preparations, sympathetic nerve activity recordings, whole body plethysmography and BP telemetry, writing grants and manuscripts, collecting, and analyzing data, and presenting research at national and international meetings.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Selected candidates that may want to apply for postdoctoral fellowships after the 2-year position term to continue their training program will be sponsored by Professor Rodrigo Del Rio. This call will fully cover the salary of the selected candidate for a period of 24 months. A 6-12 months extension will be evaluated according to selected candidate training program and productivity.
