Role: Research Technician - Neuroscience and Metabolism

Job description
A Research Technician position is available in Dr. Yang He’s lab in the section of Neurology in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. The research projects in our group focus on investigating the essential neural mechanisms underlying aberrant eating behaviour, energy expenditure, glucose metabolism that contribute to obesity and metabolic disease. We are looking for a dedicated and self-motivated research assistant with strong organizational skills to assist in mouse colony management and various general lab responsibilities. The successful candidate will have opportunities to acquire practical, hands-on experience that will greatly contribute to future career growth.
Job duties
- Assist in mouse colony management with lab members under PI’s guidance: breeding, weaning, genotyping.
- Coordinates with lab members to conduct research.
- Responsible for ordering lab supplies, lab organization and maintenance.
The candidate
The preferred candidate should have:
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Basic Science or related field.
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree in Basic Science or related field.
- Prior experience working with mouse models.
